It was Mother's Day, yesterday. We cleaned the house a bit. Did the coffee in bed and full breakfast gig. After the beautiful morning started to creep out, we decided to give Momma something else. We wanted to go for a family bike ride, just me and the kids. So what did Momma get out of it? Well, quiet time without us yo-yos, of course.
So, after about an hour of getting the bikes out, pumping tires, adjusting handlebars, putting on bottle cages and packing lunch, we were actually able to take 3/4's of the family out for a bike ride. No, I didn't wear bibs. Or a jersey. Or clip in shoes. I rode on the new, flat pedals and life was just fine.
We rode up to Graylyn and then to Reyolda House, where we ate a picnic lunch. There were a total of two crashes for the youngsters, but nothing but scrapes and lessons learned and the tears, if any, dried quickly. By the time we got home, all were happy with the venture and willing to do it again soon. Lovely.
