Yesterday morning, my neighbor went out for a bike ride. He was hit by a car that was, supposedly, going 35mph. His impact cracked the driver's windshield as well as cracking open my neighbor's helmet. The cyclist then rolled off the car. He was pretty scratched up, but was able to call his wife.
After a few hours in the ER, he came out with a relatively clean bill of health. He had less than a dozen stitches, his leg in one of those wrap deals and a cracked rib. All-in-all, incredibly lucky.
I stopped by with a 6 pack of Fat Tire and got to see him. He was in good spirits and aware of how close he came to cashing in. His wife handed me the two halves of his helmet.
Here's to Scott's quick recovery.
It's all a gift, my friends. It's all a gift.
